I've been listening to this album for the past 20 years of my life, off-and-on, and each time I get back into it, I pick up something I had missed the time before. Clearly, this album is one of those rare albums that either defines, invents, or revolutionizes a particular genre of music. If you're into just about any kind of electronic based music, pick up a copy of this, and remember this album came out early 90's...before software did everything for you...
Great set of CD's for anyone who likes electronica to ambient music. Produced in early 90's by Orbital, it has an early ambient sound that is just not heard today. Plenty of Remix Albums have been made since then too. If you can find a copy, i suggest buying it. Albums like this are getting harder to find.
This is the beginning of the rejuvination of ambiance. This album is an absolute must for electronic/techno fans. It is more than beatless music or ambient noodlings. The samples given, truly give a sense of imagination. Like Pink Floyd, it is a concept album - that blends from one track to the next, giving a truly cinematic experience, if you have a plasma brain - the Orb certainly deliver the THX Sound. Long ago in 1991 I bought this album on cassette. Be prepared for a slightly different album on Double CD. 'Spanish Castles in Space' is a new one. The order of tracks is different. 'Perpetual Dawn' is different and more instrumental on the CD. In some ways I enjoy the cassette better than the CD, and in some ways I enjoy the CD better. It's great to have both. The cassette a bit more 'to the point,' and having the more danceable version of Perpetual Dawn. If you call yourself a techno fan. Then this CD is a must for your collection. No excuses. -eternalravenRead full review
