This Classical Recording by talented Branford Marsalis breaks new ground in the sense of bringing together the Saxophone with many Classical instruments for a fine Recording overall. Some of the more complex, longer songs with several movements take longer to appreciate. D. Milhaud's Songs #7-9 and J. Ibert's Songs #12-14 are examples. I sometimes listen to a singular movement as opposed to the Whole piece. But there are several Songs that are easy to like upon first listening. Rather short in duration but instantly likeable. The first three Songs and the last Song too are this way. Let me elaborate a bit more on Song #3. A Maurice Ravel Song, fairly well known, that I first heard many years ago by one E. Deodato entitled "Pavane for a Princess". In this version, the Title is slightly different and the Music is done with much grace and precision. In closing, a lot of Credit goes out to The Orpheus Chamber Orchestra as well. Their Contribution to this Classical Recording is significant.Read full review
