There's alot to say about this title. First off, in terms of today it's a rare find and there aren't and/or weren't many that deserve to be categorized as BASS in the same vein as this one. This was when Techno/Electro/Car Audio Bass was at it's prime. It seems that back then many producers or production teams had found their niche in how they chose to project their Bass sound. The nineties where a time when "artists" were proud to be different and unique, and not afraid to experiment a little. Nowadays, too many musicians follow suit with the trend of what is "hot." Bass Alliance, Bass Overload was produced by Ivan Kopas and Robert Bartko in 1994 for DM Records, Inc. The label at the time had coined itself as being "The Best in Bass." Sad to say that label no longer has that same vision or direction. The music on this disc was mastered well in regards of what engineers consider the trend of pushing levels close to digital zero as "the loudness race." It has a little bit of headroom that leads it to sound smoother than many of the records put out in the current times when played at high volume in a suped-up sound system. As far as classifying the music, it draws inspiration from many styles. It's formost Bass, techno, electro, as well as hints of a new age-ambient combined in the mix. It draws a few samples from 80's Kraftwerk and Art of noise, possibly some Tangerine Dream, I don't know. Though it is so well crafted and blended, and one would have to know the works of the above artists to identify them. It has enough elements to keep the avid electronic music enthusiast satisfied. As far vocal stabs, there are very few. There are some narrative passages in a couple of the songs. Unique and hard to identify the source, nonetheless entertaining. As a diehard of the genre, there's always more to be desired. Someone experiencing it for the first time might find the Bass "other world-ly." This will be the second time purchasing this disc as the first has shown the decade plus years of transport and neglect. Mine had extremely heavy play rotation and with the advent of portable music media players, storage, etc., this one will be archived after the conversion. In closing, I highly recommend this title and others of this production duo. If your looking for something original, unique, old-school, something new, or just plain bump for your trunk, GET it now, lucky I did as this has been out of print for years!Read full review
