Having been a fan of 1919 since I first bought singles through the NME small ads and following the band religiously I had very high hopes when I heard they'd released this after all the years inbetween. Great band, great guitarist, I was expecting the production and progress to venture into something really heavy and really dark. Having been a live and studio engineer for thirty odd years I wish I'd got in touch and offered my services. The album is very Bauhaus, very Siouxsie, a bit 1919, but very dated production wise and vocal heavy. Having read of the sad demise of Mark (my heart truly bleeds, what an unrecognised talent) I was truly hoping this would be his masterpiece swansong. Unfortunately not so. Love the band, listen to their early stuff and maybe only play this out of respect to a great man. I for one will miss his individuality and unmistakably unique guitar sound. It was one of the sounds I loved the most and influenced my career as a sound engineer. I've toured with Nirvana, and Killing Joke, inspired by the man.n Respect!! Read full review
