I'm glad this was re-issued on CD with bonus tracks. That way, you get a better picture of what the artist, (and in John Cale, I do mean Artist),was trying to say. They left off the "Biggest, Baddest, Hairiest Band In The World" track, and at least one song from these sessions can still only be found on the double disc set out a few years ago that overviews Cale's recorded history. "Dixieland and Dixie", I think, is the song. PARIS 1919 is just a circus of sound, yet quite organic, at the same time. A curious mix of a backing band accompanies Mr. Cale along this journey. I just hope they were well-paid for their efforts. I don't believe this album sold well upon its release, but I hope for the sake of the quality of musicianship and strong, memorable melodies, these recordings are enjoyed again and again. In an America more fascinated by Paris Hilton, that may not be possible. Here's to the second future of this fine record. (written by J.D. Wilson, 6-6-07)Read full review
