I heard the last cd featuring pat metheny and brad mehldau and really enjoyed it, but they really outdid themselves on this cd. Metheny's guitar is greatly enhanced by Mehldau's piano playing. It seems Metheny is expanding his jazz horizons with each cd that he makes, and collaborations with other jazz greats really seem to bring out the best in his music. I highly recommend buying this cd. Also check out "Day Trip" by Pat Metheny.
If you are a die hard fan of Pat Metheny and ache for ANY thing he has recorded then I suppose this is a nice addition. Most of Pat Metheny's albums are intricate masterpieces, which this isn't....It seems like alot of thought didn't really go into this CD, and it's more of a jam. But I would still rather hear a jam from a guitar greats like Metheny and Mehldau than from Neal Young and his garage band.
great music to sit back and enjoy...i will say this CD was not one of his best, but as i commented before.....anything Pat records i make a point to purchase !
An outstanding piece of contemporary jazz. A great meshing of styles that gets better with multiple listens.
