This is Pete Sinfield from the glory days. From the quiet beauty of "The Piper," to the soaring vocal accompaniment by Greg Lake on the title song, "Still," this music still inspires me after all these years. Some of the session players are Pete's band mates from King Crimson, and the result is a thoughtful blend of musical styles. Pete's vocals are sensitive, ephemeral; don't expect him to sing like Caruso. That's not his strength. But he carries the tunes admirably, and the poetry is outstanding. I highly recommend "Still (Expanded Edition) to lovers of early 70s Progrock, and to anyone who loves the marriage of words, imagery, and music.
Pete Sinfield was the lyricist of the early King Crimson songs like 'In the Court of the Crimson King'. And he does an excellent job of it! The extra disc is of limited value but song like 'Song of the Sea Goat' and 'Still' have wonderful lyrics. 'Still' features an astonishing vocal transformation from Pete Sinfield's voice to Greg Lake's powerful voice. Not to be missed.
