#1 HOW CAN I BE THE 1st TO REVEIW THIS BOX SET.HARD TO FIGURE HOW TO EXPRESS HOW ALSOME THIS BOX SET IS.SO I HAD TO COPY AND PASTE THIS:::Pink Floyd released their 9-CD box set Shine On in November of 1992. The box was released to commemorate the band's 25th anniversary as a recording act. Compiling a box was not an easy task. Instead of pulling songs from each album, the band(mainly guitarist/vocalist David Gilmour, drummer Nick Mason and keyboardist Rick Wright) with some help from estranged bass player/vocalist Roger Waters and the extra help from longtime friend James Guthrie and Doug Sax remastered seven chosen albums which represented the best of the band's history. Obviously, the classics were picked(Meddle, The Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, Animals and The Wall) and one transition album(A Saucerful of Secrets) and the band's comeback(A Momentary Lapse of Reason) and all were digitally remastered from the original master tapes. Since there were no outtakes, the band released their first five singles on a bonus disc called The Early Singles which uses the mono mixes of the songs. Four of the songs had not ever been released on album in the US(Candy and a Currant Bun, Apples and Oranges(unreleased in the US), It Would Be So Nice and Point Me at the Sky(unreleased in the US)), three not ever on CD(Paintbox, Julia Dream and Careful With That Axe Eugene) and three had been on CD in the US(Arnold Layne, See Emily Play and The Scarecrow). I first got this box set for Christmas in 1992 and was a great box set and made the original late 80s CDs and the Mobile Fidelity discs sound pale in comparison. Also, the book was excellent as it had some rare photos and historical info about each album and the artwork was superb. This box set went Platinum immediately but is unfortunately out of print in the US as the band is no longer on Columbia(the band nullified its contract after Columbia complained about lack of new material as the band was about to release The Wall Live Is There Anybody Out There? in 1999 so Pink Floyd manager Steve O' Rourke switched licensing rights of the band's music back to Capitol/EMI worldwide since the band owns the master tapes to their music and not the label). Highly recommended if you are a newbie to Floyd! ENOUGH SAID SET BACK RELAX AND ENJOY!1. Arnold Layne 2. Candy And A Currant Bun 3. See Emily Play 4. Scarecrow 5. Apples And Oranges 6. Paint Box 7. We purchased this as a gift for a friend who's so into Pink Floyd that he actually believes humans have walked on the Dark Side of the Moon. When he received it, his eyes lit up, shinning on like crazy diamonds. From what we now know, we believe he's Learning to Fly a single engine airplane while he's still young enough and has enough money, and before he lapses into Brain Damage. Seriously, the package arrived just as advertised, just what we wanted as a gift and just what he wanted. The great thing about good buying experiences on eBay is the value each purchase has to someone. And by using the feedback as a meter, you know you can buy with confidence when looking for a particular item for yourself, loved one or friend. It was a good experience. Keep in mind that very few of anything can actually rate a 5 of 5 or excellent, but this deal was pretty close. Thanks for allowing us to share out thoughts. C.W.Read full review
This is my second shine on box set although I'm a little disappointed in this one I now why that this box that was only $65 versus my first one in 1994 for $160 the quality is not the same the case in Jewel cases and not the same although the CDs appear to be and the early years CD is missing they should have come with 9 CDs that kind now no it was why $65 instead of $160

When I was a young adult I had every album Pink Floyd had out and suddenly I lost interest. Years later I decided to get them back. Some of them are hard to find. Someone told me there was a boxed set out with most of the albums, now CDs, in the boxed set. YEAAAH! The boxed set comes with a book and the early years CD, talking about having a flashback. I heard it cost at least 150 dollars, when it came out...WOW! I saw it for a much cheaper price on ebay and mama didn't raise a fool, I bought it. I am pretty much satisfied with it. Only thing I don't like about it, they are not vinyl records just for the sake of breaking out the old record player. This set is a must have for any rock fan. I don't think there's anyone out there who hasn't heard or heard of Pink Floyd: The Wall or Dark side of the Moon albums, just excellent. No matter what what kind of system you have or the music form, Pink Floyd Rocks!Read full review
I love Pink Floyd, as they are one part of the "Holy Trinity" of music to me: Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, and the aforementioned Pink Floyd. It's no surprise, then, that I love this collection; however, besides the supreme music quality of this box set, all of the extra's--box itself, book, and postcards--are really cool. The book is especially fascinating, as it gives some very deep insight into the creation of the music. It's biographical assessment of the band has really made me look at Pink Floyd's members in a different, more human way.
