Notes
American pianist Conrad Tao's musical precocity and curiosity became apparent to his family when, at the age of 18 months, he was discovered playing children's songs on the piano. His famed first piano recital was at age 4. At the age of 17, this remarkably gifted young man returned to Santa Fe to perform two Mozart piano concertos - no. 17 and no. 25 - for this live recording. Conrad is currently enrolled in the Juilliard-Columbia double degree program. He received a Gilmore Foundation Young Artist Award in 2012; he was the only classical artist named in Forbes magazine's 2011 '30 under 30 in Music;' and he was awarded the 2012 Avery Fisher Career Grant. The Santa Fe Pro Musica Orchestra, under the baton of Thomas O'Connor, brings together outstanding musicians to inspire and educate audiences of all ages through the performance of great music. With a fall, winter, and spring season that offers orchestral and chamber ensemble concerts performed on modern and period instruments, Santa Fe Pro Musica performs about 30 concerts each season in historic Santa Fe venues. These Mozart Piano Concertos were recorded live April 28 - 30, 2012 at the Lensic Performing Arts Center in Santa Fe, NM.
