Quidam is simply that: Cirque at its finest. Now a celebrated classic, Quidam was showered with praise by audiences and critics alike even at its earliest performances--and for good reason! The story is both dark and beautiful and the world of fantasy and magic created will captivate audiences of all ages. The circus numbers in the show are incredible (most notably the contortion in aerial silks, which never fails to leave me breathless) and they are all seamed together by the absolutely brilliant and eccentric John Gilkey as the "ringmaster". A powerful story of the world today, a display of unrivaled elegance and finesse, a magical journey to the world of our imagination--Quidam has it all!
If u get a chance to see these performers live do so. They are amazing, the disc Quidam however is the best I've seen in the Cirque du Soleil DVD's. The performances are entertaining, not the same ol' acts in other circus performances, these ones are real out there and pitched perfect for your amazement. German Wheel act opens it where u see this guy looking like a mix of Tom Petty & Kidd Rock do wheel tricks and goes on telling a story about the little girl's imagination and the acts and characters are from her and the hat she wears makes them come to life. Lots of balance acts, and timing and calculation acts in others to speed acts and a lot of perfection overall. You'll be pleased.
This is my second Cirque Du Soleil Quidam DVD as I wore the first out, that should tell you something. Best entertainment and time spent watching. Family fun and clean entertainment that is a joy for all. I love John with the hoop and with the coat changer pure joy and entertainment. Also, the Jump rope was amazing as was the acrobatics my two favorite acts. I watch them over and over. Actually, the entire DVD was amazing, entertaining, and fun for all ages, both John and the little girl kept the entire separate acts tied together. With the DVD I can watch it over and over and keep being entertained. This single Quidam caused me to buy some of the other Cirque Du Soleil which in my opinion didn't quite live up to the standard that Quidam set.

Quidam was the show that got me addicted to Cirque du Soleil. If I had not had the luck to have stumbled across it, I probably would not even recognize the name "Cirque du Soleil". This show is moving and extremely powerful. There are parts of it that are very dark, and, in contrast, light, clown-centered acts that keep the mood so fluctuating that it's hard to get bored while watching it. The music is astounding, and, for a person who is unfamiliar with Cirque, the acts will make your jaw drop. I'm not afraid to say that even after years of familiarity with the show, including driving across the continent to see it, there are still acts in it that make me cry. You MUST see this show.
This is CIrque Du Soleil at it's best. Everything that makes a circus a circus; aerial acts, balancing, strength, flexibility, everything but the animals. Brilliantly filmed and edited. Flawlessly performed.
