When I first saw YES at Roosevelt Stadium in Jersey City, NJ many years ago; this was the album they toured to support. Alan White was with YES for just about 2 years and very, very fresh sounding. I personally feel Relayer is Alan's finest recorded work. Pat Moraz had just joined and was very much a part of the recording on this album. Moraz brought a fresher, spacier keyboard sound to the the band. This was a very different time for YES. A time with more reckless abandon, a time with a little less emphasis on precision and alot more bombast. Soundchaser and Gates of Delirium demonstrate this fully. These are tunes that show 'balls'! This is a great album and to have it on mini lp remastered in HDCD is simply the absolute best way to hear every nuance of their playing from this era of 1974.Read full review
