Notes
ETHEREALITY, New York's latest progressive power metal band, was born in the latter months of 2003. Initially a solo side project, the band came together officially in late 2005. By the time recording demo cuts for the first few tracks was underway, Rick had already met bass player Eden Lustig at a concert in New York City. They kept contact for a while, considering they shared much of the same musical ideas, before Rick asked him to jump on board full time, to which he agreed. It was not until a month or two later that Rick met his brother Leonardo, also at a Manhattan gig. Ironically, at first Rick was a bit annoyed with him, because of his forward way of introducing himself. But that quickly faded as they saw eye to eye on many different topics of discussion, including their love for bands like Sonata Arctica and Kamelot. It was not until later on into the night that Rick discovered he was a keyboardist. After hearing a track that Leonardo had recorded, he immediately asked him to join, as a keyboardist of Leonardo's magnitude was very rare. And so the Renaissance mini-LP went into the making. About two months later Rick received a phone call from a drummer he had auditioned for a previous band more than half a year prior, but had never heard from since. He went by the name of TJ "Animal" Brussich. What luck! Brussich said he had heard the band was looking for a full time drummer, so without hesitation, Rick invited him aboard having already seen him play. The band played four shows with Brussich until things started to change. Rick began to feel that Brussich could not keep up with the band's musical development. After consulting with the Lustig brothers it was mutually decided that he was no longer suitable for the type of direction the band was heading in. Thus, due to musical differences, he was asked to leave, having devoted eight months to the project. It was not that sudden, however, as talks of finding a new drummer began at least one month prior to his departure from the project. This, fortunately, gave the band time to find the fourth missing link. By the time Brussich left the scene in August 2006, the next drummer was already in line and ready to go. Ethereality was not out of commission for long, as professional drummer Randy Palumbo was invited onto the project shortly after, completing the quartet and sealing it's stability. Since then the band has played many successful shows within the New York and New Jersey areas, their best being one at the Crazy Donkey in Farmingdale, NY, where legendary bands such as Testament have made their mark. After getting off stage from a particularly meaningful and energetic performance in New Brunswick, NJ, the four were approached by "Schmike," radio show host for a program called Metalspace Radio,WRLC New Jersey. They were asked to come into the studio immediately for a live interview, and it was then that the mini-LP title track "Renaissance" was first aired, striking positive feedback all around. The band shares an unbreakable bond of brotherhood and talent that fuels their creativity and drives them to achieve their ultimate goal: to make provocative music and share it with the world.
