I bought this CD to replace my original lp from years ago. I did not like it one bit. Perhaps my memory is faulty but I did not get to anything familar until the 2nd disk. I didn,t remember all the mystical-sounding pieces on disk one. I have listened to it once...I don't plan on doing it again any time soon. Probably just me.
Clarke, Corea, DiMeola, and White together again and sounding like they never spent time apart. Great RTF songs, and recording quality is fantastic.

This is one amazing story. I originally "discovered" Return to Forever back in the early '70s at Trenton State College, and was totally blown away by their creativity, precision, and their music's complexity and joy. I've seen them 17 times, and the last time, just last year, in Clearwater (FL) where they were fantastic; much more improvising than their 70s music, but with the same cuts (songs) as back then. Their expertise is beyond belief. On this album, you get to hear audience reaction to some of their solos (especially DiMeola, as well as Chick and Stanley Clarke). Even Lenny White, the oft-underrated drummer, has well-done, intricate solos. You can sense the air of joy and appreciation. My only hope is that RTF does another "Return" in the next year or two.Read full review
I saw Return to Forever live at Cincinnati's Music Hall in the late 70s. I have never been so entertained. Fusion was relatively new but gaining in popularity. The electronic music and lights and magic enthralled the audience. In the middle of the concert, the group switched to all acoustic instruments. It was more intense than the electric version. I have followed the group and the artists throughout their career. I am disappointed that I was not able to attend the reunion tour in 2008. The CD brings back some of the magic with some new solos from the artists. I will buy the DVD when it becomes available in May.
