2013 album from the Italian Symphonic Power Metal heavyweights. Rhapsody of Fire set standards for a whole genre. They started their career in the mid '90's (first under the banner of Rhapsody), their debut album Legendary Tales (1997) made a huge impact on the scene. After the Live - from Chaos to Eternity live album, released earlier this year, they finally unleash their highly-anticipated studio album Dark Wings of Steel. Most of the songs have been written by Alex and Manuel Staroli, lyrics were penned by Fabio Lione. The overwhelmingly strong album recaptures the spirit of masterpieces like Symphony of Enchanted Lands and Dawn of Victory, while embracing fresh new elements.

Not a great album, but a good value price-wise...
Out of all Rhapsody's (Rhapsody Of Fire) albums, this, for me, is their weakest album. I can listen to it, but it's not as engaging & interesting as all the others...which I do have, btw. The songs & music are not typical to this great band. Sounds more like an old uninspired Rainbow album. Still, as a collector, I had to have it, but it will rarely be played, I'm sure. Unless you're a hard core collector, I suggest some of their others, before this one...
