With a very unique sound, amazing musicianship and unchallenged versatility, what is there not to love about the young hardcore band that is Rolo Tomassi? Their debut self-titled EP is the perfect CD to promote the band's original sound and the only thing that could possibly match it is their dynamic live shows! The EP kicks off with a classic fan favourite; Film Noir, which sounds even crisper and beefier than the previous demo of the song which was originally released on their (now very rare) first ever demo CD. For anyone unfamiliar with the band, this introduction throws newcomers straight in to the traditional chaotic Rolo Tomassi sound. Cirque Du Funk is also one of the highlights of the EP for me. With it's happy hardcore vibe, screamo vocals and some dazzling synth work it soon became one of my personal favourites. Toward the end of the EP, you will find an epic instrumental track titled "C Is For Calculus" and 2 earth-shaking remixes; one of which is constructed by none other than ColonOpenBracket who have worked with the likes of bands such as Enter Shikari. Overall this EP is well worth buying whether you are simply a metalhead who wants to thrash out to some hardcore kicks or a musician who respects the bands complex and deep musicianship. Don't miss out!Read full review
