I forgot how much I love this CD. I hadn't listened to this for about 8-10 years and finally replaced the cassette I had of it. This, their first CD, evokes the most emotion from the listener than their subsequent CDs. Joey Serlin (lead guitar and backup vocals) wrote most of the songs (every one except "sleep") and were of a troubled family life. I love the lyric in "Anything But That" that goes: "Hey Dad what you gonna do? Gonna kick in the door and try to break through. Well to get to her you gotta get through me. I ain't the little kid that I used to be." The songs paint a vivid picture of a young man coming to grips with his past. Beyond the fact that the songs are beautiful melody-driven tunes, the stories told in the songs take you to the places where the songs were written. Although the meoldies are simple, there is nice layering of vocals and instrumentation that gives a larger sound. I strongly recommend this CD.Read full review
