I didn't generally listen to this kind of music, however my fiance introduced me to it, and I love it. It is real easy listening, some songs are smooth but not boring, good for a car trip, good lyrics. He has a real distinct and pleasing voice. Some songs are more upbeat, others are more relaxed, and this particular CD has a good mixture of both. Thanks to the exposure, I'm expanding my horizons. Give it a try.
I love this album and I am very glad that I decided to buy it. It starts out with real music, like the perfect mood setter for pretty much anything, then it kind of takes you on a journey through a very soothing and relaxing experience. Now I'm not one to preach about what music is and what we should all listen to, but if you listen to the album for the first time like I did, you'll find yourself actually listening to the music and nothing else. It was quite the trip into tranquility of music. I give it an excellent rating because not only do I love Coldplay, but they've been in my life and my mind for quite some years now. I use to wake up and get ready for school (6th grade) watching the music video for "Clocks" on Mtv almost every morning. Love that song then, and now I'm 19 and I still can let it seep into my brains and as I get older, I just appreciate it even more, so I reccommend this album to any music lover, it is a must have!Read full review
I absolutely love this album! I'm 55 years old and had never heard of Coldplay until I bought “Hope for Haiti” and heard their song “A Message (2010)”. That became my favorite song, so I browsed the iTunes store and listened to snippets of their songs. When I searched eBay for Coldplay CDs, I bought “Parachutes” for dirt cheap. After several listens, I was quite surprised to find that I really did enjoy their music. I asked my 20–something-year-old son what he thought of Coldplay. He didn't care too much for them because they were not “headbangers” (my word, not his). I took this as a good sign because I'm not too fond of most of the music he likes. Next, I bought “A Rush of Blood to the Head” (again, dirt cheap from eBay!). This is an astonishingly good CD from beginning to end. If music had bloodlines like thoroughbred racehorses, I would bet that this CD was a direct descendant of Pink Floyd's “Dark Side of the Moon”. Since then, I purchased X&Y and am now biding my time waiting for their most recent CD to become affordable."A Rush of Blood to the Head" is still my first selection when I have time to listen. I have to admit that the lyrics are enigmatic, at best, incomprehensible, at worst; but that too is part of what makes this CD so special–you want to keep listening to find the hidden meaning buried in each song. As a “Senior Citizen” I am thrilled to discover that GREAT rock music is still being made!Read full review
