I would like th preface this review by saying that I am a lifelong RUSH fan as well as also enjoying classical music and being an amature musician as well. This being the case when I saw this CD I ordered it immediately. Having listened to the album start to finish about a dozen times I see what they were trying to do. The truth is that in this case some of the music of Rush has not been done justice. In my humble opinion 2112 Overture, Tom Sawyer, Spirit of Radio, and Closer to the Heart (Rush's signature song) are not up to the standard Rush has set with it's fans. Oddly enough Red Barchetta, Limelight, and (would you believe it ) Working man are not bad at all. I concede that especially the albums Rush has done after Moving Pictures sometimes take a while to reveal their genius and grow on you, but in this case I think I can say this CD will not spend a great deal of time in the player. I feel like this presentation lacks most of the power and majestic presence of the original music and instead sounds like a movie score from the 50's. I appologise if this offends anyone, music is after all a subjective art form but it leaves me flat.Read full review
Super quality sound ! A refreshing change of pace for the hardcore Rush fan ! Some quality head phone time !
Great album! It's nice to hear music from a band in such a way that it was not intended to be performed.
