Caught Perry Farrell's Satellite Party at the Norva Theater in Norfolk, Virginia last night (9/9/07). Got right up front, and held onto the barrier for the whole show. I'm talking I was RIGHT up front. I gave Perry a high-five like four times. Now I have to state here that I'm a HUGE Jane's Addiction fan. I first saw them at the first Lollapalooza in Cleveland in '91. Then the reunion tour (with Flea of the Chili Peppers on bass) in NYC on Halloween (don't remember what year that was), then with the new Jane's Addiction line-up at Lollapaooza 2003. I also saw Perry do a spoken-word at the Tibet Freedom Fest in DC at the Nation's Capital building. I also saw him do a DJ-ing set at Woodstock '99. So you can tell, I love this guy! Perry and the crew opened up with the single 'Dogstar' and really blew the doors off the house! Great song. Very high energy. But Perry was just getting started. Next came a Jane's Addiction song off of their latest 'Strays' album called 'Just Because', another great song and building on the energy. Perry then stated that he was going to take us all out to sea and performed the Porno For Pyro's tune 'Tahitian Moon' from the Good God's Urge disc. Perry then said that he was taking us from the ocean, and bring us to the mountains, and launched into what I believe was the best song of the night, 'Mountain Song'! I didn't look behind me, but I hope a mosh pit started, it was very worthy! Next on the bill, 'Superhero' also from the latest Jane's Addiction album. Then 'Hard Life Easy' from the Satellite Party - Ultra Payload album. Then a special treat - 'Pets' from the first Porno For Pyros release. (Which is genius.) I caught that Porno's tour back in '93 in Cleveland, Ohio with Mercury Rev as the supporting act. That show was like a religious experience. Nice. 'Only Love, Let's Celebrate' was next, which is a sweet sing-a-long from the Satellite Party release. An old school Jane's Addiction song 'Been Caught Stealing' blew the roof off the place next. Again, if I wasn't holding onto the wall, I would have been po-go-ing around in the pit. They ended the set with 'Ultra-Payloaded Satellite Party'. After a brief break, they came back with a couple of Jane's Addiction songs for the encore, 'Stop' and 'Jane Says'. I noticed from the set-list that they didn't play 'Summertime Rolls' that was also supposed to be part of the encore! Why Perry?!? I LOVE that song! But, I'm not mad at you Perry. I know you have your reasons. Who am I to question a musical genius? If anyone is wondering what Perry was wearing...he came out wearing a dapper light suit and hat with, I think, a feather in it. The suit jacket had these sweet iridescent cuffs and lapels. After a couple of tunes, Perry shedded the jacket to reveal a black sequined tank-top. He was very energetic, dancing the whole time, like his wife Etty Lau Farrell. I met Etty Lau, and got an autograph after the show. She is SO gorgeous, I had a hard time speaking to her. I was very nervous, but she is VERY sweet. I'm sure Perry is told he is a lucky man all the time. Etty said Perry was taking a shower, so I din't get to meet him. In closing, if your a fan of Perry's work, from Psi Com, to Jane's Addiction, to Porno For Pyros, to his solo releases, YOU WILL LIKE THIS DISC. You should get it!Read full review
Awesome CD, just want to know what's up with Perry taking credit for obvious Jim Morrison vocals? The only reason I knew this CD came out was a review in the New York Times. I went to my favorite site (Half) and got it for a fraction of the price (sorry Perry, hope you get the royalties but you know I love you). Pretty much anything Perry lends vocals to is golden. No exception here.

Have been a Huge Janes's fan since it was only located in the small area of the music store labeled alternative, usually one or two rows. Nuno is amazing, this is a must have. Also pick up the new Jane's boxed set, bottle rockets, green tea malts, Ice T, and voodoo dolls.
I was amazed on the sound of this album, all the songs are addictive. The last song is called woman in the window, I dont know how they did it but it is Jim morrison from the Doors on vocals. Kewl new song by Jim after being dead for almost 30 years. Overall totally impressed with this album!
