My husband exposed me to the Judybats pretty much by accident, but I've been hooked ever since. I have all of their albums as well as the recent project 'Soundtrack for an Aneurism' by former Judybats lead singer Jeff Heiskell.. this is by far my favorite album. The songs rollarcoaster from happy, cheerful poppy almost dancy tunes like 'Margot Known as Missy' to dark & mysterious, otherworldly dreams like 'Witch's Night.' The sweet and sad nostaglia evoked by 'Our Story' is enough to justify buying this album alone!!! I am not easily swayed by music different from what I normally listen to (60s & 70s), but Heiskell's voice and the wonderful melodies and harmonies of this album and this band all around just touch something in me. I can't say 'if you like so-and-so then you'll LOVE the Judybats'... because the only band I know like the Judybats.. are THE JUDYBATS -- a class by themselves. I highly recommend this album as a wonderful, unique & emotional experience. Worth every penny.Read full review
This is alternative easy listening. When I was a kid teen I had janes addiction , red hot chilli peppers, and snuck this tape around without my friends knowing. It was a bit folk country rock opera and I have had a very hard time hoping to find a copy in a used music shop. It's a rare bit of cleaning the house music that I still enjoy but would still feel judged if a friend heard me listening to.
