A Science Fiction movie from 1956 that I had never seen before. There aren't many of those because back then we went to the drive in every weekend. Most of the plot centers on stereotyping the scientist as only seeing his goal of solving the problem of making the ultimate bomb without worrying about the consequences of his actions. I guess that pretty much sums up Edward Teller who invented the Super Bomb aka the Hydrogen Bomb. Most of the actual science in this movie is a compilation of the "man in the streets" view. Weightlessness is a hindrance to moving about in space, things must stick together like magnetic nails and the space craft will be built like submarines. It is better than Conquest of Space and not as good as It Came from Outer Space.
Love my 50's sci-fi classics. Couldn't wait to watch it when I got it. Love to see some of the younger stars and the classic ones working together. Really like Rod Taylor and Hugh Marlowe.

This movie had good acting and no CGI. In 1956 that was unknown technology. The story of course was very far fetched. They got to mars in 1957. We haven't done this in 2017 so it's a fanciful tale. The acting makes this movie viable.
