Saviour Machine is truly like nothing else you've ever heard. Some say they sound a bit like Sisters Of Mercy. But I disagree! You may find hints of SoM's peppering throughout the album(s), but Saviour Machine really have a style and sound that is truly unique & in my opinion largely underappreciated here in the U.S. due to the cattle mentality that people have toward music. An attitude that dictates what the flavor of the month is. Pity! Saviour Machine can best be described as Gothic Operatic Classic 90's Metal and I recommend listening to the album(s) as a whole. When I load SM on my mp3 player, I load it separately from the rest of the tracks, because the mood is so distinct and unlike the typical classic metal, heavy metal, grind core or anything else you may be listening to, and usually keeping the mood your in is the key. High energy air guitar and helicopter strumming or ballads or whatever, you want to keep the mood. If you put SM in that mix it will throw you off. But, if you load and listen to SM by itself, you can do so for hours. Whether it's SMI, SMII, Live In Deutschland, or Legend I, II or III. In my opinion Legend I, II & III are for SM fans and not for the beginner, but that's just one man's opinion. The Legend series has been dubbed the "unofficial soundtrack to the end of the world" as we know it. They are in fact deciphering the book of Revelation and it took years to complete. Saviour Machine is one of my favorite bands. Definitely in my top 10 and I have a huge collection of music, spanning classical, jazz, CCM, rock, metal and more. There are operatic vocals by Eric Clayton, classical influences throughout each album, classic metal and heavy metal influences throughout each album as well. All perfectly balanced with a message the world needs to hear. My suggestion is that you start with Saviour Machine I & II. If you enjoy what they've produced, you'll be hooked and blessed.Read full review
