I use this CD as a reference recording to listen to when I compare different pieces of stereo equipment or when I make modifications. Its very well produced and has a lot of different styles of music in it. Some of the lyrics are not the most uplifting (which usually gives you a peek what the musician's life is like) , but the singing, music, and production are quality. I like all 16 songs.
I love all of Tori's work so much. But I loved the cd since the first time I heard it. It didn't take any time to grow on me. The songs are all infectuous and memorable and it's all so organic. The songs sound and feel natural. It's hard to describe, but if you've ever been curious about Tori, this would be a great album to pick up.
The closest I can come to explaining the difference between this album and Tori's other work is that this seems to have more of a folk feel. The real standout track to me is Wednesday which starts off kind of twangy and then out of nowhere comes this funky guitar. When I first heard it I started laughing. It's so surreal and abstract. It's Tori at her brilliant best. This is a fantastic album all the way through.
