Why Did I Buy It? I was browsing YouTube and happen to see this guy, Shawn Lane, shred like there's no tommorow. Although it's preety much like a jam, he was able to land all the notes right. That lead me to going to his dedicated site where I learned more about the guitar hero. Went to E-bay and did a search.I found out that CD was long out of print and definetely a collector's item. What do I like or love about it? One of the things I liked about the CD is that I found out that it was Shawn who did all the instruments, So, he basically made this CD all by himself. It is more of Jazz, but if you play any musical instrument, it was more of a spiritual journey. I love the song Gray Pianos Flying of all. What I disliked about it? You'll find some dull moments at first listening, but, if you listen more often you'll get in to it.Read full review
I agree with the other reviewers. This is a great release and it is unfortunate that it is out of print. Shawn played all the instruments, and man is he good! This CD has pretty mellow music, but the playing is incendiary. If you haven't heard of Shawn, you owe it to yourself to find some of his videos on youtube. Look for the song "one More Night" played with one of his old bands, The Willy's. it's one of the best things you will have ever seen guitar-playing wise.
Lane was, without a doubt, one of the top, if not THE top, guitarists of all-time. The 'proof is in the pudding' as has been said. This release is spectacular and a must for all fusion/instrumental guitar music fans. It ranks right up there with Holdsworth's Metal Fatigue and Beck's Blow by Blow and Wired releases. It doesn't come up for sale too often so try to get it when it does.
The best from one of the greatest artists EVER! It's a crime that more people don't know about him, he was a true genius. R.I.P. brother.
