Although I consider myself a fan of the band, their songs have always been very "hit or miss" with me, more so than most other bands I enjoy. I like their funky, groovy, flowing music, and some of their songs are some of my very favorites of all time. That being said, I found little to nothing I liked about this new CD. It is like a collection of slow songs, with very little to get up and move to, or even tap your foot to. There are no amazingly funky songs like Moondream Meadow Allegory or Every Iceburg is Afire. There is one song that reminds me a little bit of Cornerman in the melody, but doesn't hold up through the song and draw the listener in like Cornerman does. I will be the first to admit, I am not a Sky Cries Mary authority, but I was very excited to find they had produced a new CD, and very disappointed when I bought and listened to it. Not my kind of funk at all.Read full review
A typical release from one of Seattle's finest bands. It's excellent and I have no idea what the other reviewer is talking about (maybe give it another listen, undistracted.) Excellent vocals, strong songs and top musicianship.
