A Wonderful Story It is not what we experience in life that matters the most, instead, it is the meaning we assign to the experience that determines our emotional response to the situation. Another way of thinking about this is that it is the story we tell ourselves about the experience that determines our emotional response. If we tell ourselves a story about all the upsetting things that could happen to us in our day, then we will respond by feeing afraid and overwhelmed. If we tell ourselves a story about all the abilities and resources we have to help us see ourselves through the day, then we will respond by feeling confident and empowered. I Am the Sky! It is a story that will help you learn: * How to use your breath to relax and release stress and tension * A creative approach to manage your emotions Learning to manage our emotions, or affect regulation, is one of the most powerful skills we can have to see ourselves through the natural ups and downs of life. It enables us to transform stressful moments into moments of peace and confidence. What is Hypnosis? Hypnosis is a gentle yet powerful tool that helps you relax. When we are relaxed we are able to learn new things very easily and very quickly. Hypnosis is not sleep, although when in a hypnotic trance the feeling is similar. It is impossible to make anyone do anything with hypnosis that is against his or her principals. You are always in control of your own choices-free to accept or reject any suggestion based on what benefits you. Anyone who wants to be hypnotized can be. How to Use this CD To enjoy this recording find a quite place to sit or lie down comfortably that is free from distractions. You can listen to this CD on a portable or home system, with or without headphones. Some people like using their computers. Nose breathing, used in yoga and meditation practice, helps with calming and regulating the breath, which releases physical and emotional stress. It affects the nervous system differently than mouth breathing. Deep breathing increases oxygen intake and thus improves circulation, helps eliminate toxins, calms and relaxes the body, improves concentration and increases energy levels. If you are a parent or teacher and want to teach a child to be more aware of their breathing, simply ask the child to lie down on their back and be really still. Then ask them if any part of their body is moving. Where is the body moving inside? Have them place one hand on their belly and one on their chest then notice the rise and fall of the belly and chest with each breath. Say "that's right. Can you feel your body moving here?" You can place your hands on theirs. Explain that each time we take a breath in; our lungs fill up with air and get bigger like a balloon. When we breathe out, our lungs release the air and get smaller again. We can see and feel our lungs get big and then smaller with each breathe, because they move the chest and belly up and down. You can discover your upside down eyes to help you see and know that you are the sky by practicing a simple yoga pose called Legs Up a Wall, which is a modified inversion pose. When the body is upside down, the pull of gravity provides many benefits on circulation, the heart, the lungs, and the brain that increase mental clarity and allows the body to easily relax. This upside down pose produces changes in physiology that alter our perception both literally and figuratively. When we are upside down we are in a good position to see things from a new perspective.
