Spiral Up Kids blends an earthy jamband style with layers of sweet vocal harmonies to create an originally infectious roots based sound. Spiral Up Kids has been soundtracking the family experience since 2009. Their improvisational and interactive shows unite audiences young and old with spirited sing-alongs, impromptu audience participation, and lots of wild and crazy dancing! Spiral Up Kids has played various benefit shows throughout the years supporting local schools, libraries and various other organizations. They have assisted in raising funds for new playground equipment, books for less fortunate children and helping fundarts in education. Their new album 'Road Trip' will be released on December 9, 2014. Featuring special guests: Marco Benevento on piano, organ, and accordion Simi Stone (Natalie Merchant, Dan Zanes, Elizabeth Mitchell) on vocals and violin Steve Gorn Grammy Award winner on Bansuri Flute. Commuter Baby - Simi Stone's signature "Where Motown Meets Mountain" lead vocal style shines brightly through on this funky, hip-hop dance number. P.J.Klym's commanding beat boxing and savory low tones elevate the driving rhythmic pulse. Mama Don't Allow - A 21st Century barn burning rendition of this traditional folk classic highlights the expressive gestures of Benevento's piano and organ and Whalen's whimsical jawbone playing. Apple - This tasty Cajun sing-along introduces the Spiral Up Six Chorus singing witty and memorable lyrics about how and why family members act and lookalike, "The apple doesn't fall far from the tree... " Lazy - Mellow, swampy grooves mix with warm swirling B3 organ tones on this mid-tempo bluesy track. Whalen, Baker and Stone remind us to take time out of our busy lives to kick it back, relax, and take it slow. While you Were Sleeping - A musical interpretation of author Durga Bernhard's book. "Sleeping" shows us what one moment in time looks like around the world. Grammy Award Winner Steve Gorn plays his magical bamboo flute on this world beat favorite. Jambo - Whalen leads the Spiral Up Six Chorus in a jazzy rendition of Ella Jenkins' call and response classic, Darren Cohen's smoky guitar tone is delicately woven throughout. Frack - In this old school hoedown ditty Whalen and Stone rise up to singabout the hazards of hydro-fracking in New York State. Fooch Fischetti and Steve Bernstein are showcased on pedal steel and mandolin. Peace and Love - A timeless multicultural winter holiday ballad that celebrates family traditions, generosity, and joyful community spirit. The song features the smooth soprano sax sounds of Mark Nahnsen Goodnight Moon - A sweet lullaby featuring the elegant and passionate vocals of Stone and Whalen and Benevento's melodic richness and animated textures provide the perfect bed to lie down in to tell this beautiful story.
