If you like the Strawbs music and are of a certain age this recording includes their best music songs. Despite the age, the recordings are very clear and sounds like have been remastered from the original tapes. This CD includes both the single and longer album version of the classic Lay Down tracks. Recommended.

Bought this to preserve my original vinyl. This is (in my opinion) one of the best ever albums. The CD version is true to the original, still a rich sound.

REVIEW FROM THE ORIGINAL LP: STRAWBS - BURSTING AT THE SEAMS - A&M RECORDS AMLH 68144 1973 - The eighth album of many from the British prog-folk rock outfit. This is not a typically seventies sounding lp athough it is clear that there is a strong trad-folk rock theme which may explain that, the immortalised 'Part of The Union' demonstrateds this best. There is experimentation on this lp, but enough character to hold it together as one of the most sought after folk-rock lps of the seventies. 'The Winter and The Summer' and 'Lay Down', pull the b side away from early prog-rock experimentation and show their folk-rock & prog pioneering strength.
Very pleased with the CD . It has brought back some great memories !! The Cd itself is top quality and the sound is spot on.Lay Down was the first single I ever bought and as its on the CD twice - thats a bonus.
