I grew up listening to Styx in the 1970's because my parents bought the vinyl as it was being released, and I own all of the bands material on cd and have seen them play live a few times. This is an awesome album. "You Need Love" and "Lady" are the songs that most people seem to relate to and know the best. But "A Day" is probably the best song on this because it is such a powerful and beautiful song. And "Father O.S.A." shows Dennis DeYoung at his best. His songwriting has always been somewhat of an inspiration, and this song just blows me away. John's drumming is so powerful that you can't help but air drum to it. I like Tommy Shaw (who had not yet joined the band on this release), but I think this was the most true era of the band. I was gonna go see Styx on the "Brave New World" Tour, but decided not to go, because of DeYoung's absence. I hope, as I'm sure all Styx fans do, that he returns. If not, Styx needs to quit because the material that they've put out lately really is hard to listen too and is nothing like this killer classic early stuff.Read full review
This is a really good album. I have been a Styx fan since the 70s, and have seen them in concert twice. They rocked both times. This is highly recommended nostalgia for true fans of 70s rock.
