First it's hard to offer up a Flower King Review from Album to Album. Why? Because even though they never lose that Flower King Sound, the Albums can be so drastically different. They all maintain that classic Prog Thread. They all toss nods to Bands like Zappa, Yes, Pink Floyd etc. They all dabble in Jazz like improvisation. They all have a Pop like Quality to them (strong hooks/catchy chorus etc.). It's how they go about those things, or how much they lean from one to the other that makes everything so drastic. This album is great (providing you like the flower kings). It strikes me as uncompromising (not that they ever really compromised)in that it's very in your face. Long Songs that can be very over the top. The overall mood is very happy positive (another theme that leans one way or the other from album to album). It may be too overly happy lyric wise for some. The best way to describe the album is Dense. There always seems to be a lot going on and everything seems full ready to burst. This may sound like a negative. It's not. It's simply the way the sound strikes me. If you like classic prog (genesis, yes, king crimson, pink floyd, yes, zappa etc.) you should like this very much. If your a Flower King Fan, you need this Disc. I can't say it'll be one of your favorites (every flower king fan seems to have a different set of albums at the top of there list), but it just may be.Read full review
