Everything Vangelis does is miles ahead of anyone playing all the instruments alone. My only issue with him is that I am always hoping for NEW stuff, but he has about 10 "Best Of" cd's. Anyone who is unfamiliar with his work should probably start with one of these cd's. I believe the best complete piece ever is Mythodia performed live at the ancient ruins of the monument of Apollo in Greece. The video of the concert includes a full orchestra as well as a forty voice male and forty voice female chorus. So buy anything by Vangelis, and it will occur to you how many movie sound tracks he has done.

‘Vangelis Themes’ is a compilation of various works done by Evángelos Odysséas Papathanassíou, better known as Vangelis. The album consists of compositions from movies, such as ‘Blade Runner’ (1983), ‘Chariots of Fire’ (1981) and the Japanese film ‘Antarctica’ (1983). As well as having music from movies it also has songs from his previous albums; ‘Opera Sauvage’ (1979), ‘China’ (1979), and ‘L’apocalypse Des Animaux’ (1973). If you are looking to purchase a Vangelis album, but are unsure of which to pick this would be a great start. This album contains some of Vangelis’s best work.

This an easy listening music. I love it. I turn down the lights, Sat in my favorite recliner, dimmed the lights and just relaxed so easily. I really love this cd.

I have been after this CD for a while now and was pleasantly surprised to find it here on Ebay at a good price. I already had it in audio cassette format, but wanted the CD. Therefore I knew what the music on this CD was like, and if you are a fan of Vangelis,(electronica style), then I don't think you will be disappointed. This CD contains many movie themes, such as Blade Runner, Chariots of Fire, and many more and even though they are still electronica style, some are a little mellower than others, and I guess more mellow than some of his collaborations with Jon of Jon and Vangelis, but quite pleasant listening I found. I can't say that there is anything I don't like about this CD but then I am a Vangelis fan from way back :)
I love the sweeping sounds of the movie tracks on this compilation. I especially love the track, "Le Enfant," which was the love theme from the, "Year of Living Dangerously," but is not on that movie's soundtrack (nor is the rest of the soundtrack by Vangelis!). "Le Enfant" was also the music from a beer commercial back in the 70's or 80's. Almost everyone will recognize, "Chariots of Fire," and the music from, "BLade Runner," was part of what made that movie soooo fantastic. It was perfect for the movie. The theme from, "Missing," has a beautiful, sad melody.
