After the long wait, cult fans of pepe deluxe have been rewarded in the usual fashion! You'll find it hard to find them in the shops, but believe me, it's like digging for hid treasure! As with the previous albums, the first time you listen to it, youre like, 'where's the beat or rhythm?', but turn it up a bit, play it again, and let your brain find the beat. It's shorter than beatitude, so less material, but its still average album length (we were spoilt with beatitude's 19 tracks!) BEST TRACKS: ALL OF THEM REALLY! OK, OK, FORGOTTEN KNIGHTS AND CAPTAIN CARTER'S FATHOMS. and THE MISCHIEF OF CLOUD SIX, the first track is actually great when you turn it up and follow the story! Mad! Absolutely mad! Sounds like it's sung by David Haselhoff!! very cool and very funky and definately out of their little heads when you listen to the lyrics that make really no sense at all! But it gives you a laugh while your enjoying the crazy funky beat! UNDERESTIMATED. DANIEL BRICE.Read full review
From Scott Walker to Syd Barret to the Doors, all their influences are fairly apparent but you forgive this Finnish band because they're so unashamed and they do it so well. The brilliant 'Mischief of Cloud 6' is the opening and most immediate track, the rest of the album needs a few listens before it gets under your skin. But it WILL get under your skin!
