They don't make them like they used to...

I first heard this album at around the age of 10 years, shortly after it was first released. When my brother returned home from college and began to play his new collection of cassettes (!) by the Moodys, Floyd and Zeppelin, the magic of this album began to take hold... It hasn't left me since. Inspired - so the Moodys say - by man's imminent first flight to the moon, this album contains songs and music which explores their thoughts and feelings for the present and for the future. You don't need to know all that, however! All that really matters is that this album is absolutely sublime from start to finish. It also contains a number of songs - Eternity Road, Candle Of Life, Watching And Waiting - which are amongst the most beautiful you will ever hear - ever. The Moody Blues are accomplished musicians and have a very distinctive sound. The production is almost light and understated, which adds to its atmosphere and beauty - nothing is overdone. And Justin Hayward's voice is, well, pretty much unsurpassed. If you are reading this because you once heard the album and are wondering whether you'd still enjoy it - wonder no longer. If you are, however, perhaps more familiar with the Moody's more recent - and slightly more 'pop' - music, I'd still say it's worth a gamble (it really is in a different league...) As I now play this album, well into my forties, my 4-year old is beginning to move to its rhythm - a wonderful thing to see. It really is one for you - and your children's children's children.Read full review
After buying the first 3 cds by the Moody Blues I decided that I would like to extend my collection of their music by getting this cd. When I saw it on eBay for a bargain price I bought it. I will probably buy the next 3 cds in the series.
a wonderful album that i first listened to in 1969...memories of teenage years from a wonderful group still performing to this day
I decided to pick up on some Moodys' after hearing the Nights in White satin album round a friend's place which was I was pleasantly suprised by. I researched a little on the Moodys' and the best songs I came across belonged to this album, so I bought a copy off Ebay and it's a real lost treasure of the sixties and anyone who Loves Donovan,Love the Byrds etc will dig this. It has a real noble and etherial quality about it with the strings and harmonys wonderously keeping the placid casual lead vocals afloat. Overall a magic album by the Moodys and If you are a forever changes fan you simpl can't go wrong with this as it treads the same peaceful warpath!
