Notes
Ovaseeahz The Bay Area has given birth to some of hip-hop's most heralded acts from the likes of Too $hort, Hieroglyphics, and The Luniz, to Zion I, Planet Asia, and Digital Underground. While these acts continue to blaze a trail of talent, following under the radar is a group that is prepared to change hip-hop history. Enter, Ovaseeahz! Hailing respectively from East and West Oakland, California, the talented duo of Nyte and Deepthought Kanoses started out in 1999. Nyte, while working on a solo project for Dream 21 music, met up with the talented Deepthought through a mutual friend. They went on to record the unreleased classic "Get Ours". The two complemented each other so well; they decided to form Ovaseeahz. The meaning behind the name, "Ovaseeahz", is to rise above the masses and to lead the state of hip-hop into a positive direction. Nyte uses timely punch lines mixed in with an attack rhyme-style while Deepthought, with a delivery matched by none, uses lyrical wordplay and a verbal depth that flips heads on any coast. Ovaseeahz, after recording their debut album "Shake Tha Foundation" (Dream 21), graced the sacred stage of "Project Blowed" (Aceyalone's stomping grounds) in LA, California. It was an unforgettable rookie performance. They rocked the packed crowd into a frenzy! After going through relocations from Vallejo to Sacramento, the group left Dream 21 in 2002 to team up with friend and producer Klockwurk to form Kavindra Entertainment. Under the new imprint, they recorded the underground classic, "Osmosis" . "Osmosis" mixed hungry lyricism with bangin' production from Klockwurk and Nyte. The album brought to light the versatility of Deepthought and Nyte with songs like "Mic-a-holics", "I'm Cool" (featuring PenState), and the party-banga, "Weekend". This album has been deemed by their fans as their 'IllMatic' (Nas). The 'Seeahz then returned with the eccentric album, "Re-Presenting Hip-Hop'. With songs like the rock influenced 'Alive' and the soulful journey through the depths of individuals in 'Blink of an Eye', they further showcase their range and style. The Seeahz are now back with the new hit album "Zero Tolerance"! This album touches on everything from social struggles to having a goodtime. Singles "Act Grown" and "Good with the Bad" not only show range of talent, but also show a balance of a conscious vibe and a party atmosphere.
