I love the music on this DVD. I've had the CD for awhile and listen to it all the time. My husband told me he went to the concert and he thought it was great. So as a surprise I bought one of these DVD's to send him in Iraq and one for me to watch here. I was a bit disappointed with the DVD. Based on just listening to the CD I had my own vision of the concert. I thought there would be dancing, but there isn't. They just stand there on stage. And I guess I understand the reason. When Lisa Gerrard sings it's so intense and any sort of movement would ruin the sound. Her singing is amazing. It's so emotional. She's extremely gifted. I do like that the DVD has interview bits from the musicians. I think if you rate the DVD on visual alone it's boring. But the music is wonderful.Read full review
If you like Dead Can Dance you will find joy in this recording. The sounds is excellent and the additional videos are great as well. One slight problem with it is that the video transfer to DVD, is just a video to DVD transfer. No additional treatment was given to the recording to polish it for DVD viewing. I still consider it superior to the VHS and more so considering the sound quality. Many songs are included here that are not on the studio recordings. "I am streched on your grave," and "Rakim," I find most notable.
The live musical performances on this DVD are outstanding! I've only owned one album from them previously, but I knew they were talented musicians. The only thing that made me roll my eyes were the excerpts in between songs. Lisa Gerrard talked about how talented and special they are. I suppose they are, but sheesh! Overall very much worth the price!
I love this dvd so much... anytime I want to just "chill" I pop this dvd in the player and relax. The music is bar none some of the best produced in the world!
