I am a EC fan period, so you would you expect a biased rating I suppose. With that said, the tracks to some of the songs included in this CD which I don't see around much are played slower than the updated version I've heard. None the less, the versions on the Pilgrim CD are no less fantastic, especially if you chose to listen by headphones, eyes closed and enjoy the instrumentation. I play to a lot of EC's music to learn the music as well as to get the fingerwork down better, so in some respects, this version helped me a lot. I purchased. I believe EC fans would enjoy this and give the CD a thumbs up. Clapton put this songs down during some dark times in his life and the words tell it all.
He's older and more refined. But Eric Clapton still puts out a good record. Nice job on this 1998 release. "My Father's Eyes" was a hit. Track listing 1. My Father's Eyes 2. River Of Tears 3. Pilgrim 4. Broken Hearted 5. One Chance 6. Circus 7. Going Down Slow 8. Fall Like Rain 9. Born In Time 10. Sick And Tired 11. Needs His Woman 12. She's Gone 13. You Were There 14. Inside Of Me
This is an excellent collection of soulful work. "Father's Eyes" has it's feet in two worlds. Obviously the father son relationship, but a God and mankind relationship as well, whether intended or not. The entire work is a pleasure with no tunes to skip over. One can listen to this and not grow weary with the work. Truly from the heart and clearly Slowhand has not lost his touch with this CD. This should be in everyone's collection if they like their blues Clapton Style.
Ty.I absolutely love it Ty soo much
