I like all the music by T-S OR. They include all forms of music in their CD's It is great to see them in concert. They do a great light show, fire with the music, moving stages. Narrow stages from the bottom of stage then one band member on each side will rise above the croud and play close to the roftop. The small orchestra comes from the home town they are playing at. The Moody Blues band done that all so in the past. T-S OR also has 2 members of the band go out and play in the isle of the crowd. The are very talented. Love their Chtistmas music. We saw them in concert 2 times at the Dayton Ohio Nutter Center, a must see at least 1 time concert for all Trans-Siberian Or. fans.
Don't get me wrong. I like all genres of music. That is why I purchased this two disc set. Thought I would like it, because I liked what I heard from TSO on radio. For me to like a CD/Album, it needs to provide a few basic things. It has to be a properly produced disc. It has to sound good. Forget the content. It must be a good record. This record is not a good record. It is mushy, muddy and has no high end response. It is compressed to all hell. Sounds like it was mastered from an 8 trac...remember those? Now about content. Remember Genisis, Strawbs, Exception and groups that base the music around classical influences? TSO does the same, and even brorrows licks. Trouble is, it all sounds the same. Another problem, their attack is way too mechanical. When you play classical, the isea is you throw out the measure and just keep the meter. Not here...it's soooo mechanical fatigue sets in. The leads all sound the same, and the lead male seems to really like listening to himself. I purchased this 2 disc set because I liked the TSO Christmas hit on radio. This ain't even close. This is the first bad review I have ever penned for this site. Sorry, but it is what it is.Read full review
There are so many talented people in this group, every year it continues to amaze me. This is a mix of classical with hard rock metal. They have a full chorus with both male and female vocalists. Each vocalist brings something different to the table. The guitar players are incredible and the drummer is superb! Add a full orchestra and rhythm section to this mix and you have the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. This genre of music has appeal to all ages and types of people. I highly recommend this CD along with "Beethovan's Last Night". They also do Christmas songs. I am not particularly a fan of Christmas songs, but they manner in which they do them is so refreshing and different. On the last note, it you ever have an opportunity to see them live, do it. I can't explain the magic that happens at each concert, you have to experience it yourself.Read full review
This band has turned out to be another band like "BOSTON" . hey have developed a "formula' for their music..and as a result..If you listen carefully the riffs, runs, and highlights all are repeated throughout this CD as well as the Holiday cd's..They are a re great musical group..Need to make a change for the future..Or e will not be seeing them in five or six years.... My message to the group explore other avenues in music ...mix them ..blend them together..and find new styles to work off of!!!!!
