I actually am giving this 4 1/2 Stars! Excellent Live performance by one of the rare Prog Rock "Super Groups" that consists of: Mike Portnoy,(recently displaced Dream Theater Uber Stick Extrordanaire) - Drums and Vocals, Neal Morse,(Ex Spock's Beard mastermind) - Keyboards, Acoustic Guitars, and Vocals, Roine Stolt,(Flower Kings Guitarist and leader) - Electric Guitar, Vocals. Pete Trewavas,(Marillion Bassist) - Bass and Vocals. Accompanied by: Daniel Glidenlow,(Pain of Salvation Band member) - Guitars, Keyboards, percussion, vocals. I would have to say this is TRANSATLANTIC's best recorded concert performance to date! Once the Show starts, it starts through a 3 1/2 hour set, including Encores, at a FEVER pitch and never let's up, if only for the solos members perform, while the rest of the band take a breather! Although it's filmed and performed in a rather small Shepard's Bush Empire (Theatre), in London, the band's presence seem to open it up for a larger audio soundstage! Every member is a mastered Musican and it shows, during the concert! Neal Morse is his usual humorous, but poignant self and Mike Portnoy also helps the crowd stay focused, by playing the crowd coaxer, by making sure the crowd stays loud and alive! Overall, there are backstage band interviews and a documentary on the second of the two discs. The concert is recorded in Dolby Digital 5.1 and there is also a stereo track. I loved the Concert, as i have been fans of most of the members "home" bands and have been a TRANSATLANTIC fan from their first recording! My only pet peave is that although the camera woek is pretty good and real clean, it is very "choppy", switching from different views of the band members playing too fast, IMHO. That and why didn't they spin this on a Blue-ray and make the recording even better? Lack of funds? I don't know. All in all, if you are a fan of TRANSATLANTIC or any of the other band members bands, this is a MUST BUY! It just a little behind in the technology, is but still produced well enough to enjoy immensely! If they had just put a little more trtouble in catching up with the times, I would have given it a SOLID 5 stars!Read full review
great performance,,,,,,,, too bad the sound production is poor quality,,,,, if you have a lower end sound system you will find this much better for listening, but if you have a quality sound system it will pick up all the flaws
