Trey's music is truly out of the mainstream and original in concept and sound. His time spent as bass player for Robert Fripp and King Crimson was well spent as much of this inventive sound exploration can be heard in his music. I love the way Trey weaves scale and instrumental influences from other world sources, primarily African and the middle-east, into this album. The time changes and polyrhythms of his compositions combine with these other elements to create a sound that is refreshingly new and original. The depth of complexity of Trey's music gives the educated listener an unexpected pleasure after wondering aimlessly through the vast wasteland of music that is being produced by many "progressive" artists of today. Both the CD and the DVD are well produced and are worth a listen. If you enjoy the music of King Crimson, Trey Gunn's is a step beyond in a new and refreshing direction. You'll enjoy it on many different levels, try it!Read full review
