As a Pacific Northwest resident and black metal fan alike, I had to give Wolves in the Throne Room a chance. The first WIITR album I bought was Celestial Lineage. This style of atmospheric black metal is relaxing and I identify with their ideas as I'm from the same (Washington) state. It was good, but a bit lackluster. I decided to start checking out more of their discography until it happened... I found Two Hunters. This, to me, is the essential Wolves in the Throne Room album and one of the most significant American black metal albums of the 2000s. I'm an obsessive runner and I completed my first marathon on May 4th, 2014. I run long distances on average and it's a great opportunity to listen to full-length albums while pursuing this masochistic addiction. Marijuana and avid music devotion go hand-in-hand, but for me, running gives me a similar euphoria that delves into deep music analysis (though, I love both methods). I will never forget listening to this album for the first time during that cold, rainy run.Read full review
What a great album! Not sure what to expect from Pacific northwest black metal, these four tracks weave in and out of atmospheric soundscapes with the blast beat and black metal vocs we all know and love! Very moody and slow at parts, the craftsmanship of these songs is pure and real. I had read the reviews and didn't know what to think about the hype, on about the 8th or 9th listen at this point and am now trying to CREATE the hype. for something a little different but a little brilliant, this is HIGHLY reccomended. Even my girlfriend who doesn't quite appreciate extreme music like I (we) do gave this one the thumbs up. RAWK
