The Sonata fosters challenging and innovative ideas and is the playground for musical innovation. For his recording, Kostas Tosidis chose five sonatas of five contemporary composers that create completely different results of sound and structure. The starting points are astonishingly similar as all five sonatas try to reconcile the demands of contemporary music with their musical roots by including elements of their respective national traditions. The recording shows the quality of current guitar music as state of the art with general developments of the Avant-garde and it's followers.
