Being a long-time Heep fan who'd lost touch with the band's more recent works, I decided to give this CD a try. Having to fill the shoes of late band members David Byron and Gary Thain would appear to be no easy task. Yet, vocalist Bernie Shaw and bassist Trevor Bolder hold their own and them some. Fans expecting the halycon days of The Magician's Birthday or Look at Yourself will be in for a letdown. However, that's not to say the CD is a throwaway. Not by any stretch, especially with tunes such as 'Only the Young', 'Question', and 'Change', a powerful rocker with a terrific chorus. Guitarist Mick Box does an excellent job on both electric and acoustic guitar. Phil Lanzon's keyboard work is also exemplary. In short, the music and musicianship on the CD are rock-solid, especially when contrasted with the (horrible) 90's alternative music so popular at the time.Read full review
