This was the first Moodies release after Polygram bought out London Records back in 1984 and was an attempt to cash in on the Moodies back catalog and nowhere near as good as This Is The Moody Blues or a few of the best of import albums that were around at the time. There were originally two versions of this release. The American version had a nice cover of a woman looking up at the sky and had 10 songs including the single Sitting At The Wheel from the band's last album The Present. The Europe versions had a blue cover with white writing 12 songs and Sitting At The Wheel wasn't included with the song order rearranged. In 1998, this was reissued with the American cover and the import setlist. Contact seller first to see which one you're getting. The best thing about this release is that it does include the single versions of several songs like Never Comes the Day, Question, Talking Out of Turn and Nights and White Satin which were mostly different mixes. For the first few years of cds some of these were hard to find. The nice thing here is that you get them all in one place. Aside from that, stick to the original albums like On The Threshold Of A Dream, Days Of Future Passed, ect. and you'll be much happier.Read full review
compilations, dont you just love them? the moody blues have been around for a long while and are responsable for several essential records from the sixties. these albums were very well crafted concept peaces made to be played and listened to as a whole. these are some of the best music that the sixties have to offer and worth opening. this cd takes some of the hits from these and mixes them up with some of their more recent music. its all good not a bad tune in the bunch. i highly recomend buying the originals they are worth the the money and you will hear the music in context just as the artist had intended. for the fan/fanatic this is another collectable. some of the music is actually different arrangements from the originals. for the true fan its always exciting to hear variations on the originals. speaking of variations i personally own two copies with this title and even the song mix is different. so to sum up, if you are new to the moody blues this is not the way to go. but if you are already a fan and do not own this yet, you will. its only a matter of time.Read full review
What a disappointment when you know what a great compilation they can put together. I should have paid more attention to earlier reviews but to each his own and in this case spend your money on a better MOODY BLUES production. The band should have stopped this one before it left the barn.
My clear case was craked in several pieces. And it's not the one I wanted,, yes I know I picked it but I just dn't like it PERIOD!!! Paul Maddox
