I initially bought this documentary with the intent on seeing a historic viewpoint of The Doors. I got more than what i thought i was getting. The storyline might be a little too short and very quick pace narrating but it still paints a picture of how The Doors rose to fame and Jim Morrison's decent into the afterlife. I was really suprised about how much footage the documentary actually contained. A lot of never-before-seen clips and great commentary by Johnny. Sometimes you forget it's him. Very deep moving voice. Almost like Jim himself was narrating his own story. So far the best documentary of " The Doors " I've ever seen. Quite possibly one of the best music videos as well.
This film is FULL of footage that my husband has never seen. And it told an unbiased story about the band.

If you met someone from another planet and they wanted to know who was this group called "The Doors" this would be the film to show them! A complete history of the band well documented with a lot of detail and insight. This puts Oliver Stones movie to shame. The biggest bonus is in the extra feature's of an interview with Jim Morrison's father and sister talking about Jim. I have been a fan since 1979 and this interview is long over due and worth the price of admission alone!
I really like the in depth history on Jim and how the band was formed. The interview extra's in the end with his dad are great. You can really see why Jim was who he was. Also, this video has some great concert footage I hadnt seen before. I really did enjoy. Of course I wish it gave me more info and when on a bit longer. I think all iconic band videos are like that. You just love them so much you want more.
