Not going to get in major detail. Their website summarizes this album as "debut album 'Litanies from the woods' features ten tracks and is a well balanced mix of hard rock, progressive, psych and southern rock with an obscure and vintage 70's attitude." This Italian hard rock band which includes musical references to American Southern rock along with progressive and hard rock bands from the 70s and 80s. I don't necessarily want to say they're dated or are not unique since that is far from the mark. But I can hear Jethro Tull, Allman Brothers Band, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Eloy, Kansas, Styx (Wooden Nickel era), Rainbow and more. Sample their music with video and sound at their links and judge for yourself: http://www.jollyrogerstore.com/release.php?id=50 and https://jolly-roger-records.bandcamp.com/album/witchwood-litanies-from-the-woods. The samples along with the following review hooked me: "a long journey from classic rock to progressive rock, with blues and southern rock elements and with an obscure and 70’s vintage attitude, enriched by insertions of hammond, piano, synth & moog, flute, harmonica, mandolin. Fans of Jethro Tull, Deep Purple, Uriah Heep, Led Zeppelin, Kansas, take note." The CD has been wonderful and it lasts about 76 minutes with no short songs. Enjoy!
