I bought this CD because I had heard a few of its songs on the radio and thought this new Alice in Chains isn't half bad. I was a fan when Layne Staley was the lead singer. I'll say what I like most about it is this new incarnation retains the same sound and style as old AIC. For anyone that was a fan of AIC lead by Layne, I'd say don't rush to shrug this off as not the real AIC. The band members have changed, but the sound remains true AIC.
While Layne Staley will be greatly missed, the fact remains that Jerry Cantrell is still the main music writer. William Duval does a fine job harmonizing with Cantrell and has a cool voice on his own. Sean Kinney and Mike Inez still more than hold their own. All in all a cool return for one of rock's coolest bands.
