The combination og Iommi and RJ Dio is a classic combination that is very rare to find! This might as well be a Super Group! This is the first CD put out after reforming the old Sabbath Dio era. I believe the band getting back together may have spawned the Re-uiniting of Ozzy Osbourne with the old band, in what we all know now as Ozzfest. Iommi's hard hitting power chords mixed with Ronnie James Dio's vocals sets the tone on the very first track, "Computer God." Followed by a cd full of tunes worthy of the Sabbath name! Classic songs like, "TV Crimes,"and two different versions of the classic, "Time Machine" are also included in this CD. Buy it! Buy it now!
Those metal fans that haven't heard this album, probably have nothing to do with a metal at all. Black Sabbath gained a particularly new, heavy sound during Ronnie James Dio era. The album was recorded in 1992 and was seriously underrated. It would take several years until the world will be ready for that sort of sound! While the typical Sabbath's style is clearly obvious in riffs created by great trio Iommi/Butler/Appice, Dio vocals have brought fantastic power to the band that was missing during Ozzy time. Not to mention the lyrics that bring you to the world of contemporary magic and evil. "Computer god" starts with characteristic for Black Sabbath poerfull riff and continuous with the story of the battle with new evil, surronding us. "After All" kicks off with a doom riff that is followed by tremendous voice of Ronnie. The whole song is the story that deeps you inside fate, death and evil. "TV crimes" fast heavy metal song enriched with riffs and great solos. Vinny Appice drum work is great! "Letters from Earth" was the single I heard from the album. The slow song so greatly featuring Dio power vocals allows him to tell the truth of the life, here on Earth. He brings the questions, that maybe even shouldn't be answered. "Master of Insanity" is one of the most great songs in the album that has so great melodic part and fantastic rhythm section, with kicking ass solos. "Time Machine" recorded twice with a slight differences in the album is a straight forward heavy metal song that brings a lot of power and speed to the whole Dehumanizer work. Once again, Dio's lyrics bring a lot of things to think about! Enjoy the magic! "Sins of the father" a song that is quite hard to listen for those ones who are more with an early "Heaven and Hell" Black Sabbath era. The song is tremendously heavy starting with rather slow doom riff and continuing with fast second part. "Too late" is one of those great gifts we were ever wishing to have from the Masters! Slow and melodic, with Dio voice appealing to the deep human feelings! The song is as great for its composition as the "Don't Tals to strangers" is. "I" - really strong thing! Played a lot live it is one of their favorities probably. Powerfull riff by Iommi/Butler, fast drum rhythm section by Appice and the legendary voice of Dio. "Buried alive" is also very hard song for those who are not well prepared=) The bass part is fantasticly great. Butler really kicks off with a great solo parts. Iommi's solo in the middle of the song is as usually great and melodic. Overall the album is really strong and powerfull! Metalheads of all time will like it. Strong line up and great era!Read full review
This is actually the second copy of this cd I've bought. I wore the first one out by playing it to much. Ronnie James Dio's quazi-operatic vocals combined with Tony Iommi's blistering guitar solos make this a headbangers dream come true. The lyrics deal with a dystopian future whare machines have enslaved mankind and individuality is akin to high treason against the computerized overlords. Fans of such films as The Matrix or Terminator trilogies will love this. this is the sound track to the human revolution.
Supermassive black hole heavy metal from the Sabs with Dio. Who knew in '92? We were all listening to Nirvana. A must-have for any Sabbath fan.
