For decades, this adaptation of the soundtrack was the only recording available of the groundbreaking music composed and performed by Vangelis. I played my 1980's cassette over and over for years until it got lost in a move, and it's still the version I remember of many of the pieces. Although I now own the CD soundtrack which actually contains the Vangelis performances, I still have a soft spot for this one. Also, I'm a little irked by the modern habit of putting actor dialogue in a soundtrack recording. This older version has none of that (although, truth be told, I don't mind hearing Roy Batty's little speech, "I've seen things...")
