This is one of my favourite albums, completed shortly before Kirsty's untimely death. At the time of this album Kirsty was spending more time thinking about and listening to cuban music and lyrics. This album shows how happy Kirsty was at the time of writing the album with fun and exciting songs and lyrics. Probably the most popular song of the album is "in these shoes" recently featured along with other songs from this album in the film "Kinky Boots" (2005). This album also shows her amazing sense of humour with great songs about internet relationships like "Here comes that man again" and the hilarious "England 2 Colombia 0". This album is excellent, buy it!
Saw Kirsty in concert weeks before she died. Went to the concert as a result of getting the album. Very glad I did both. Along with KITE, this is the best album she made and the most consistenly good. Incorporated latin influences into her very English slant on life in a natural and smooth fashion. Some tracks wry, some very moving. A totally unique singer songwriter who lets you into her soul in the same way that Joan Armatrading does at her best. Very honest and occasionally raw. A must have.
I've adored Kirsty for years and was very upset when she was killed. For some strange reason, I'd never got round to buying a copy of this CD, so when it came up at a bargain price, I couldn't resist. It is her best work, in my opinion, and a fitting epitaph to her great talent. It was a great deal from a superb eBayer, and I will happily trade with them again. Cheers dears!
Wonderful Cuban-inspired danceable, relaxing, cleverly worded songs and distinctive vocals from a sadly missed singer and song writer.
