I have listened to this CD every day since I bought it. I was told by someone that Breaking Benjamin was a great band and now that I have actually listened to the CD Phobia I have to agree. I hear a little influence by Tool on it although the lyrics and music are not as "gritty" as Tool. There are a couple songs that sound really similar to eachother but there is still a variety on there. Bens voice is really awesome and it also seems to change. My fave song off of this album is probably You or Evil Angel. I don't know why I picked those 2 but those are the ones I find myself wanting to hear every day. I would probably like Until the End and Diary of Jane more if they weren't already over played on the radio. Anyways over all this is a great CD that will not be a waste of cash and is sure to get its fair share of play out of your other CDs if you like something a little harder then the mainstream but not as hard as say Flaw or Tool.Read full review
Phobia is probably Benjamin's darkest release to date, with plenty of angst and sadness in the songs. Just the type of conflict that makes good songwriting. It seems to me that someone in the band is going through a relationship breakup. It is a shame that a group this good has to suffer through this much grief. However, the songcraft and musicianship that is evedent throughout this entire CD have eclipsed the band's previous work, WE ARE NOT ALONE. Although most of this CD's tracks will never see the airwaves, this does not mean in any way that a single one is filler. Tracks such as HOME have clever references to the movie WIZARD OF OZ, and others as YOU , YOU FIGHT ME and HERE WE ARE speak of the heart break that someone within the band must be working through. Musicianship is another highlight of this CD with notable guitar riffs that reminded me of Pink Floyd on one of the tracks. Thanks for taking the time to read this!Read full review
This album is absolutely amazing. I have been a Breaking Benjamin fan for years and I am proud to say that Pennsylvania has bred this fine musical talent. Phobia ,in my opinion, captures the maturity, emotion, and strength of a band that has overcome issues both personally and professionally. I believe no Breaking Benjamin fan should be without this album. As a third installment.. the guys have outdone themselves yet again and never cease to amaze me. Upon purchasing this album, you should also inquire on catching these guys live if you haven't already. CD's do not do them justice. The live shows are phenominal. Take care and regards.
I originally bought the CD because i love listening to these guys, even before they got big. The first time I listened to it, I thought i was disappointed in the style they chose. But then I listened to it over and over and i fell in love with it! This CD gives a great depiction of them in their own mind battles, relating with myself and others I know. They still maintain there hard edge, but at the same time show there versatility in certain songs as well. If you only listened to the CD once and think you don't like it, LISTEN AGAIN! Trust me. The more you listen and read the lyrics, the more you fall in love with them. Phobia, in my opinion has maintained the bands uniqueness, and is still amongst my favorites.
Came in great shape and works perfect. Thank you :)
